I had only done the Benton Trail on Moosilauke once, a few years ago. Today the Relaxed Wednesday Group did it, up and down.

I had forgotten what a delightful trail it is! Gentle grades through very pleasant woods, then a short section (jointly with the Beaver Brook Trail) above treeline. Distance is 3.6 miles each way, with 3,100 feet of elevation gain.

When planning a Moosilauke trip keep the Benton Trail in mind!!!

There's even a small spring partway up. Did you happen to note the condition of the spring? The stream crossing at the bottom can be a bit hairy in high water.

We have to get you camera.

No, we carry enough water not to care much about springs on the trail :)

Have just taken my new camera out with me, nothing but a summit photo of me today. Stay tuned for more!!!

The Benton Trail is a great way to go. There is a marvelous outlook at about the halfway point. I've also done Moosilauke via the Beaver Brook Trail but the Benton is much easier especially on the descent.
