Date of Hike: Saturday, 1-17-09
Trail Conditions: Hard packed snow until the Carriage road. Significant snow drifts on the Carriage road. Some snow cover over ice above tree line.
Special Equipment Required: You could bare boot the entire trail, but snow shoes were definitely useful on the Carriage road due to the significant drifts. There was just enough cover to keep them on above tree line. Crampons not required.
Comments: I was the first one up today and encountered 15 (!) people on the way down. Trail is VERY well packed now. Perfect day with good visibility and very moderate winds.
