Date of hike: Tue. 4-14-09
I parked at the end of Ravine Lodge Rd. and walked to the Gorge Brook Tr. The road was partially bare in sections and mostly still covered with about 12" of snow. The road was very firm this morning with some softening later.
Gorge Brook Trail was consolidated, firm, and hard this morning due to the cool temps. It was in excellent shape with one walk under and minimal post holes. Some softening in the sunny areas later but still very consolidated.
I bare booted the road and wore my micro spikes to the summit and back. It could possibly be bare booted, but I like my traction. Traction recommended coming back off the top, until it starts to flatten out.
I Carried my ballast (snow shoes and crampons, but neither needed.
I was on the summit at 10:30 and saw no others out on the trail today. A beautiful sunny, warm, day with a slight breeze at the top.
