trails: stony brook, carter-moriah
conditions: trail was well packed from trailhead until shortly after the first crossing of the brook at which point tracks abruptly stopped. 6-8" unbroken snow initially becoming 12"+ on climb to ridge. carter-moriah trail averaged about a foot with deeper drifting on ledges. some reprieve in the trees where it was much shallower. is now reasonably broken to summit. carter-moriah down to gorham was packed out, but not heading towards the carters. kendskeag and moriah brook do not look recently travelled. all water crossings solid.
equipment: snowshoes.
comments: was hoping to get some clearing this afternoon, but didn't quite happen. some nice views to south east ridge of moriah and moriah brook valley. really beautiful on the ledges with all the snow.
