Date of Hike: Sunday 10/18/09
Trail Conditions: Stony Brook was great, even the steep section had good footholds. CMT was good to Moriah summit. The little scramble just below the summit was mostly ice free. On the descent the Carter Moriah Trail had a lot of ice from 3900-3400 feet. There were a few sections of ice staircases, but with care they could be negotiated. Smooth sailing below 3400.
Special Equipment Required: Microspikes useful on Carter-Moriah.
Comments: Great 5h loop with many ledges with different views. The lower ledges on CMT around 2400(IIRC) would make for a great sunset viewing area, but I had a few beverages calling my name--maybe next time I'll bring them along for the ride.
