A beautiful day on Moriah with moderate temps, little wind, and strong sunshine from start to finish. The Carter-Moriah Trail was hard packed snow all the way, with no rocks, roots or ice, and only one inconsequential blowdown. Fast trail. Our group of 6 used microspikes, as did most of the other hikers we saw. Snowshoes might be helpful for the heel lifters, but otherwise not necessary, as there was no chance of postholing more than half an inch. The Kenduskeag Trail appeared to also be packed out solid. Parking was tight at 9:30am, but we got a spot.
Views to the white Presidentials with blue skies above were spectacular from both the ledges and the summit.
#36 for Eve, our 8-year old winter hiker, and a birthday hike for Ally!
