I was just reading some info about Mt. Moosilauke and that the native Abenaki belived in a spirit that resided atop the peak called "Gitche Manitou".
It reminded me of my trip to Mt. Katahdin and how the spirit Pamola resides on the mountain according to local legend . Does anyone know the names and peaks for other Gods/Spirits that reside/look over any of the other peaks in the Northeast U.S and Canada? And if you know any interesting story involving them that might be fun to mention.
So far as mentioned above the list I know is...

Mt. Moosilauke-- "Gitche Manitou"
Mt. Kathadin---- "Pamola"

Thanks

I always call Mt. Washington(to myself, I hike solo) the "storm maker", which is the English translation for the Algonquin name.
