Date of Hike: 3/7/09
Trail Conditions: Soft snow at lower elevations, hard snow with icy sections above Log Cabin, ice and hard snow above the tree line
some post-holing, mostly on trail edges
Special Equipment Required: Snowshoes - useful, Crampons - essential above the tree line
Comments: Navigation from Adams 4 to Adams Summit was challenging in poor visibility. Even in perfect visibility (which we had on the way down) no cairns were visible after crossing the summit of Adams 4. GPS and some well timed clearing of the weather enabled us to find our way from Mount Sam Adams (which we climbed by accident) to Mount Adams.
