Trail Conditions: Well packed snowshoes not required. Light (Microspike) to crampon traction will definately help on the steep avalon train ascent. Trail was mostly packed powder with some loose powder parts on the steeper sections.
Weather: low 30's bottom to mid 20's at summit. Cloudy with light snow flurries. Summit "fogged" in but visibility good on the trails. Wonderful rime on all surfaces above junction of AZ trail.
Special Notes: Avalon trail summit sign is down due to a blowdown. But it is still obvious where the summit is. Overall a wonderful day. Took myself and Charley (Cairn Terrier) 1.5 hours to summit. And just under an hour to get back down. Enjoyed some tea and puppy treats at the top but couldnt linger too long due to the late summit hour (4:00)
