Trail conditions: Crunchy and firm earlier in morning, softening by mid aft. Ice sheets on logging road from Heath's Gate that were turning wet and muddy by aft. The trail was smooth as white asphalt the whole way once in the woods.
Special equipment: We wore microspikes which worked well the whole way up and back.
Comments: We wondered about possible problems taking this trail through private property. At the trailhead, we were the first car, and as we were getting ready a Lancaster police car pulled up - he said he had no problem as we were pulled off to the side nicely and we chatted about the nice weather and hiking in general. A women came by walking her dog, we asked if there was a problem, as she lived in a nearby house, - No, again a pleasant, brief chat, though the dog didn't seem that interested in us.
