Mt. Carrigain via Signal Ridge Trail, Carrigain Notch Trail, Desolation Trail

Date of Hike: Saturday, July 4, 2009

Trail Conditions: Any condition you like, so long as it's wet.

Special Equipment Required: None

Comments:

Signal Ridge Trail to Carrigain Notch Trail - water crossings are tough (some of the stepping stones under a few inches of rushing water). Trail pretty muddy. A few step-over blowdowns.

Carrigain Notch Trail - nightmare. Much of the trail was either running or standing water. Water crossings tricky. Some blowdowns on the north side of the notch. Trail could really use some waterbars on that side as well, as significant portions of it were basically rushing water with nowhere to go. Nightmare.

Desolation Trail - a little bit muddy down low, otherwise trail was in decent shape - a little bit damp/slippery, but otherwise good going.

Signal Ridge Trail to Carrigain Notch Trail - water crossings tricky. A few step-over blowdowns. A bit of mud on the flats prior to the ascent (descent)

Congratulations, June, on NH4K #500!
