Trail Conditions: Brook Trail was soft ground and patches of snow/ice most of the way up, and hard-packed snow most of the last mile. The last 3/10 mile was mostly bare rock, and the summit was completely bare. Down the Liberty trail, after descent from the summit, there was a straight mile and a half of hard-packed snow, but the very gradual decline of the trail made it very manageable. The last 1.5 miles were clear and firm, with only intermittent patches of mud and some running water.

Special Equipment: We managed bare-booted the whole way-- some of us had yak trax but we found we didn't have to use them. Gaiters came in handy as we sunk a bit into the softer spots of snow.

Comments: Gorgeous day, warm (55-60ish) and windless the whole way up. A bunch of extra layers required at the summit, but quickly removed on the climb down. Amazing views at the top, despite some cloud cover. Not very many people out-- we saw no one on the Brook Trail, and only a few on Liberty. Great fun hike, especially up Brook!
