Mt. Colden from Avalanche lean-to via Lake Arnold. Trail conditions from the lean-to to Lake Arnold were snow covered but packed solid in the morning. No special equipment necessary. From Lake Arnold to the summit of Mt. Colden the snow was 4 - 6 inches of powder on top of a packed base. We walked to the summit of Mt. Colden and carried Stabiliicers and snowshoes the entire way. Sunny and warm at the top at 1;00 pm on 4/24. No wind either which made for a very pleasant time enjoying the views. The views were so extensive that a massive snow capped peak some distance away off to the north (Canada?) was clearly visible. The walk back required the use of Stabilicers over the entire length of the trail due to the warm temps causing wet to slushy snow conditions on the trail. They were particularly helpful on some of the short, steeper parts. I can only imagine that the trail conditions are sloppy after the latest round of warm weather.
