Mt. Flagg via Mt. Flagg Trail and Gorilla Trail
Date of Hike: Thursday, April 16, 2009
Trail Conditions: Dry ground, mud, spring snow, ice
Special Equipment Required: None
Comments:
Trail virtually snow free to southern ledges of Mt. Flagg. A little muddy as usual near the Canaan Mountain Trail junction (I opened up a clogged waterbar though, and the water level dropped 1" in 5 minutes), nonetheless can be bypassed pretty easily.
Gorilla Trail from southern ledges to summit still had some significant patches of snow, but barebootable nonetheless.
Removed a heck of a lot of blowdowns (about 2 hrs of work!), likely from the December ice storm. Other than a few larger old blowdowns (easy to get over/under/around), trail is now blowdown free.
