Date of Hike: 02/01/2009
Trail Conditions: Whitehouse, Liberty Spring, and Flume Slide Trails were all broken out. There are some route finding dead end spurs on Flume Slide Trail as you near the base of the slide. One particularly long one where the correct choice at the fork is to the right. The .1 miles of Franconia Ridge Trail to Mt. Flume was unbroken. Osseo Trail was unbroken until the lower mile or less. Ladders covered and blazes are still a couple feet above snowpack. All broken out now by two pairs fo snowshoes.
Special Equipment Required: Snowshoes for most. Crampons for upper part of Flume Slide Trail to ridge. FRT to Mt. Flume crampons good for traction crossing top of slide, but snowshoes also good for flotation.
