We parked at the end of Seven Dwarfs Rd. and took the line along the river to reach the trail head, well packed. North Twin Trail was packed to the crossing (which didn't look bad) as was the crossing-avoiding "bushwhack". No one had been on the Fire Wardens Trail since the rain and it had a consistent 1/2" crust over an inch or so of powder, like walking on a frosted window pane (so I guess you could say we broke trail
). It was a little blown in near the top, not bad. No crossing issues. We removed a few blowdowns; just a couple of big duck-unders left.
We wore Microspike ST's car-to-car. Snowshoes not needed but likely will be when it softens. Very nice, easy trail conditions today.
We had read of Mark's snow viewing platform at the top but couldn't believe its scale, huge! Views like the old days from the top of it, Presis, Zealand and Carrigain Notches and much more. Saw Joe and Joe summit from Lend-a-Hand as we were leaving; good to see you again and I'll work on your membership. Beautiful day!
