Mt. Hale via Hale Brook Trail
Date of Hike: Saturday, November 22, 2008
Trail Conditions: Powder, packed powder
Special Equipment Required: None
Comments:
Zealand Road had 3-4 inches - saw no 2WD's up there (but skid marks on the first pitch) - doubt this will be open much longer.
3-4" of snow at the base of the trail, 6-8" after the brook crossings. Some sections up to a foot up high. Decent amount of foot traffic today, but trail was still not really packed. Another few more inches and it may be snowshoe time for it.
Didn't notice much in way of underlying ice, but wore Microspikes just in case.
Removed two blowdowns that would make snowshoeing tricky. Other than one other one (been on the ground for a few months), no blowdowns remaining.
Water crossings no problem.
