Date of Hike: 02/07/10
Trail Conditions: Firmly packed the whole way (and not much snow to begin with). Occasionally, small snow drifts filled in the trail, but still easy to follow. Only a couple blowdowns which were easy to go around. All stream crossings were well-bridged or frozen over. Parking lot along Rte 302 is well-plowed; 0.2 mile hike to Zealand Rd. entrance.
Special Equipment: Wore MicroSpikes until about ¾ a mile up Hale Brook Tr, when I switched to snowshoes simply to benefit from the heal lifts. Light traction necessary, crampons overkill.
Comments: Only one on the trail today so it was a quiet trip. 10 miles / 4hrs 45min
