Mt. Hancock - Up North Down South from Hairpin Turn TH
Date of Hike: 1/31/10
Trail Conditions: Hardpacked snow the entire way. Stream crossings have tough & apparently strong ice bridges. No ice on Loop Trail
Special Equipment Required: Crampons up and down. Don't know why you'd want to use snowshoes on such hardpacked snow, even barebooters won't sink in...
Comments: Met up with a few dudes on the top of North Hancock... Michael and (?) Andy (?) sorry if I screwed that name up. They ran into Hot Donna and Shizzy the day before on Owl's Head. There were the usual Gray Jay's on North Peak that have figured out if they land on your head they get more treats than normal. Forecast looks fairly consistent for the next few days... these conditions will probably hold for another week.
