MT Hood - pearly gates no longer standard route??

sounds like people are opting for the old chute now all the time. the hogsback has moved a bit to the climbers left. Sounds like the gates are icier and steeper than they used to be?


anyone know anything about this?

no big deal - but thought it was interesting.

I read Kevin's TR and this caught my eye as well - especially since I hope to hit Hood in the next year or two.

Read the same TR today. The Hogsback seems like it can change where it goes from time to time, but from one of the pictures you can still tell that it heads towards the vicinity of the Pearly Gates.

More icy = less people = more safe = more fun
