Fantastic day, with mostly sunny skies but the drama of the clouds blowing off Washington. Boott Spur trail was icy in places above 3000 ft, with some snow, but I bare-booted the whole way with no problems. Bitter windchill above treeline. Davis Path was fine, even the boggy bits were no problem with care. Glen Boulder at the top had snow drifts up to my thighs, but they were brief. The trail was generally in good shape. Saw a wood grouse about a mile below the junction with Davis Path that seemed fearless. No other hikers around until I got to Glen Boulder.

Equipment: some traction might be useful, but not necessary yet. Winter clothes for the wind. No need for snowshoes or crampons.
