Saving the best for last. It was a perfect day to finish up my 48 New Hampshire 4000 footers. I had been wanting to hike the Webster Cliff Trail for quite a while and this was a great opportunity. Chips and I were going to finish our NH48 list and Zippy was primed as always. We all hit the trail at 8:00 am. The trail is a breeze with excellent footing and moderate grades for most of it. We got the first outlook about 9:30 am. From here to Mount Webster this has to be one of the most enjoyable trails in the White mountains. Great views pop up every 10 minutes and the weather just made it all perfect.
There are three spots where Chips had to be lifted up steep inclines and chimneys. Zippy had no problems whatsoever (hence the name). If you take this trail allow for extra time just to stop frequently and enjoy the view.
After Mt. Jackson I took the Webster Jackson trail down which is not in nearly as good a shape. The trail maintainers were hard at work in the lower section.
