After a very satisfying day on Mt. Washington, my girlfriend Jess and I decided to embark on a nice relaxing hike, out first of the year together. Having a nice mountain like Kearsarge in your backyard is always nice.
We hit the trail at 11:20 after finding a parking spot at the always crowded Kearsarge Trailhead. The woods walk is a great way to start your hike without pushing too hard to start. This was Jess's first time going up Kearsarge, so we took our time and enjoyed the beautiful and dry weather. We stopped for a nice snack on the ledges about 2/3 of the way up. Jess was getting tired but looking forward top the views I kept telling her about. We met quite a few people who were on there way down and had already enjoyed the scenic vista.
I kept telling Jess not to look behind her on the last push to the summit so she could enjoy the panorama all at once. She was happy that she did as we climbed the fire tower and had some lunch. After reading the journal at the top I recognized the name Mtn. Magic from VFTT. We must have passed each other on the way up. Hopefully we'll meet again.
