Mt. Kinsman Trail,water crossings minor. Trail has mud, mostly frozen though and dusting of snow. Ice gets worst near the top and some rock slabs take care.
Kinsman Ridge Trail quite Icy, with long stretches of solid Ice. Difficult at times.
North K. summit has some bare rocks still.
Ridge trail down to Fishin Jimmy icy and rough.
Kinsman Pond frozen over with a thin layer of ice.
Fishin Jimmy Trail Brutal, especially top third of trail. Large stretches of Ice. The area around the steps are tough going. I know this can be a tough trail in the winter, but the lack of any real snowfall made this one of the roughest trips I have had on this trail.
Got remarkably better on bottom half, still some ice.
Lonesome Lake Trail in the dark no problems.
I did not have traction as I have only crampons and did not bring them. Those micro spike thingies would have probably been the way to go. I regretted not bringing my poles.
Beautiful day on summit. Really clear views to the south. Chocorua looked close. Also East Osceola looked wild and rugged. Saw no one the entire day. Was able to spend 2 hours on summit. Though Flume and Liberty were visible Lafayette and Lincoln remained in the clouds.
Comments: maybe wait for more snow.
