I went in from the Upper Works, and took the herd path before the Colden Dam. The path for the most part you could follow. There was a couple of spots that it wasn't so obvious, and you had to take some time, but it can be figured out without much trouble. It was pretty mud in some spots, but I've learned to expect that in the Adirondacks. It was a nice day. About 4 other groups or solo hikers were going up as well. This was a bit more challenging than I expected. I had a good time.
