Mt. Mexico via Cabin Trail, Big Rock Cave Trail, bushwhack
Date of Hike: Wednesday, January 7, 2009
Trail Conditions: Loose granular
Special Equipment Required: None
Comments:
Roadside shoulder somewhat plowed across from Cabin Trail trailhead.
About 2" of new loose granular (snow/sleet, sugar texture) on top of a solid frozen granular base. Some folks before me had barebooted with minimal postholing, but I wore my snowshoes.
Cabin Trail plowed to the last house.
Two blowdowns on Big Rock Cave Trail - one burried in the snow, the other a step over (was getting dark and was a little too big for a quick cut).
My snowshoe prints lead from near the height of land on the Big Rock Cave Trail to what I believe to be the highpoint on Mt. Mexico, which has no redeeming qualities.
