Sunday's snow on top of last Thursday's gave the mountain a good cover. The usual icy spots on the White Dot (just below "First View", just below the junction with the Old Ski Path, and just below the "Chute") were covered with firm snow and it was possible to bare boot it all the way to the summit (although I put on crampons above "Paradise" and today - Wed. - I'm planning on using Stabilicers). At the beginning of Tuesday, the White Dot was essentially one ski track with some footprints in it. By day's end, it was a well-trod (but still not icy) path. The major alternative routes from the Park's HQ to the summit (e.g. Cascade / Red Spot or Spruce Link / White Cross) were still largely unbroken. A friend of mine later did a moonlight hike up Cascade / Red Spot and she said she did a lot of post-holing. - Monadnock Volunteer
