Trail Conditions: mostly packed snow, some loose snow from drifting. trail in good shape

Special Equipment Required: crampons essential from Gem pool

Comments: Barebooted to Gem pool. Used crampons to hut. One person used microspikes. Considerable ice near Lakes hut. One difficult snow ledge to get over on Ammo trail. Snow bridges all solid. No wind until hut area. Encountered 25-35 mph wind climbing Monroe. Frozen snow and ice with protruding rocks. Dropped packs at hut and scrambled up to summit and back in 30 minutes. Started at 9, finished at 2pm
