Trail Conditions: almost from the beginning there was a trace of snow & patchy ice, never real tricky but you had to be aware of where your feet were.

Special Equipment Required: Temp was around 30 when we started arund 8:30 & was a little cooler up higher. While it looked like winter from a distance above treeline, it was a nice day. We went without any traction & just needed a jacket & light gloves for a 20 minute summit stay

Comments: Optional - On Monday there was much talk about winter storms coming early but Saturday was beautiful. Cool temps but not unexpected for Mid-October. Through the notch north of Camel's Hump we could just see a couple of ADK's. Barely more than a breeze above treeline. I stayed in glove liners most of the day & just added fleece gloves before leaving the summit. We retreived the Boy Scouts Mascot from a clearing & left it with a visitor at Ravine Lodge. For a few minutes after the other two groups left the summit we enjoyed a very quiet couple of minutes.
