Trails: Glencliff Trail to South Peak, down Carriage Road to Hurricane Trail
Conditions: Wet leaves covering slippery rocks and branches caused me a few falls. One tree down on Glencliff Trail is a little awkward to clamber over, too low to crawl beneath. The greater peak was in the clouds, it was windy, cold and snowing so Cathy and I decided to read line instead of summit. We went down Carriage to Hurricane, then up and over Hurricane Mt. until we rejoined the Glencliff Trail at its base.
Comments: This loop was fun to do but we may not do it ever again. There is more climbing up and down on Hurricane Trail than we expected. And the AMC Guide map said it was 2.0 miles when really it was more. 2.9 by another map that I checked later. The additional mileage was just a little frustrating with the wet and slippery trail and we didn't have our guide book with us to give us any details. (A no-no, I know.)
