Mt. Moosilauke via Glencliff Trail, Moosilauke Carriage Road
Date of Hike: Wednesday, February 4, 2009
Trail Conditions: Packed powder, ice
Special Equipment Required: None, but light traction a good idea
Comments:
Glencliff parking area plowed. Trail is broken from parking area (however the lower branch of the trail that starts on the road is not).
Glencliff Trail was well packed - I wore snowshoes, but others made it up with Microspikes without postholing. Could be done without any traction.
Carriage Road was also well packed (though high winds could drift it out again). I wore snowshoes all the way to the summit. Other than a few patches of textured blue ice, it could probably be barebooted (though Microspikes wouldn't be a bad idea).
