Mt. Osceola, East Osceola via Mt. Osceola Trail
Date of Hike: Friday, May 15, 2009
Trail Conditions: Mostly bare trail, some wet spots, a few patches of snow/ice
Special Equipment Required: None
Comments:
Tripoli Road open.
Mt. Osceola Trail to Mt. Osceola - virtually snow free. Slabs a bit wet/slippery. Only one patch of snow needs to be touched (a dozen foot long snow drift, very firm, so no issues with postholing). Some pooled water along the flats just before the highpoint. A few blowdowns, none you can't step over.
Mt. Osceola Trail from Mt. Osceola to East Osceola - mostly bare ground, some patchy monorail (snow and ice) remains, but one only needs to walk on very little of the monorail to get by. Chimney and chimney bypass snow and ice free and mostly dry. All remaining blowdowns cut and/or removed.
