Bayle Mountain via Bayle Mountain Trail
Date of Hike: Saturday, December 13, 2008
Trail Conditions: Crusted snow/frozen granular, ice, dry trail
Special Equipment Required: Traction
Comments:
Hiker parking area near plant *is* plowed.
Mt. Roberts Trail was mostly covered in a somewhat unbreakable crust - Microspikes were perfect. Someone attempted barebootedly after I ascended, and turned back at the bottom of the ledges.
Ledges had some icy spots.
A few bare spots from runoff.
Maybe an inch of crud at the trailhead, depths increasing to around a foot at the summit. No postholing.
Lots of ice in trees/blowdowns in the flats near the sharp right turn down low, and above the ledges. All blowdowns have cut and/or removed.
