I took the Calamity Brook trail to Four Corners via the Van Hoevenberg, Avalanche Pass, and Lake Arnold trails. The trails were in good shape. Some mud to be dealt with past Lake Arnold, but nothing too bad. It was nice and dry for the Adirondacks, and it should have been because it was sunny all week before. There were lots of hikers about, it was a great day weather wise, and it was the Sunday before Labor Day. I took the same route back, and went right pass the Lake Arnold trail. There's no way you can spot the sign or trail junction walking downhill. Well, you could I guess, but I was watching where I was walking straight ahead. I realized the mistake after about 15 minutes, and headed back where it's easily seen walking uphill. Don't forget the camera, because the views are great from Skylight.
