With heavy ice accumulation predicted for tonight and tomorrow morning I'd want to have some traction just to make it easier. Probably easy to find a parking spot close to the trailhead with all the rain predicted for lower elevations.
Hope this isn't too late, for what it's worth.... I haven't been up the trail since 11/13....but....everything else in the area is a sheet of ice covered by a tiny bit of new snow at lower elevations. I've been hiking in crampons for over two weeks now on fairly easy trails. I'd tread with caution, bring crampons, and not be shy about using them.
(Disclaimer: I am known to be a big woosie about footing! Nevertheless, I'd still recommed taking my advice and bringing some kind of traction! )
