mt. washington - ammonoosuc ravine trail

attempted washington on the ammonoosuc trail on cloudy sat morning (4/18). weather report predicted a little clearing later on, so we went for it. after almost busting a tire on base station road (right before big hill) reached completely empty parking lot at the cog railway (trail parking lot still closed) around 8am. minutes later, another hiker/skier arrived and started ahead of us. fairly flat and easy for first mile or so, still tons of snow on the ground. put on crampons around 1.5 miles when the trail got really steep. 2 hikers behind us turned around, couldn't get further without the crampons.

near lake of the clouds hut, fog and clouds became so dense we turned around, unable to see anything. hiker/skier ahead and all other hikers we saw also turned around. probably for the best. will attempt again on may 9th, hoping for better weather!
