Mt Washington - Lion's Head Trail
12-13-2008

Trail Conditions: The slush from the warm temps have frozen and is now footprinted ice and snow up to the start of the Lions Head Trail. Up the headwall to treeline, trail was more snowy and less icy. Above treeline, mostly fairly hard snowpack to summit.

Special Equipment Required: Full winter gear minus snowshoes needed. Ice axe - used going up to summit but would be fine with trekking poles. Microspikes used to Lions Head, then crampons up and back down to treeline, then back to the spikes. Face protection, goggles, expedition parka, extra gloves and hats.

Comments: Clear, cold and windy! This was the clearest day that i have spent on the Presidentials. Thanks to Chuck for taking some summit photos.
