Hiked the Starr King trail Saturday with my two sons. Quite a few hikers out, not one raindrop fell!! The bugs were out but as long as we kept moving they didn't seem to bother us and none of us were wearing bug repellant. Trail was pretty mucky in spots all along the way. Pretty mellow hike most of the elevation gain is within the first mile or so. Some gray jays were around at the fireplace up top. It is worth it to continue on to the overview 50 yards from the summit. The view is restricted but you can still enjoy some of the presidentials from there. A nice easy hike, but a long drive from southern Rhode Island!!
