Well - it is not Nancy Kerrigan, but rather Nancy/Carrigain, but I could not resist.

I was penning, well actually typing a long winded report about my hike last weekend with LarryD to Nancy and Norcross Ponds, Nancy Cascades and our thru Carrigain Notch. Well, the home computer croaked so I am just writing this quick thing here, mainly so I can share the really cool pictures from this beautiful area off route 302 near Bartlett. The trip is about 13 miles, 2800 feet of elevation - 75 % of the elevation is in the first 3 miles - then it is a nice wooded walk with a small gain heading up to Carrigain Notch.

Here are the pics!

A real nice 7-8 hour hike.

For a minute there, I thought you were going to have a trip report filled with some nut wacking your knee and you writhing on the ground, yelling: "Why me? Why me?" :D  :p ;)

Beautiful pics Mike! I'm interested to hear how a bit about the trail between Norcross Pond and Carrigain Notch. I've previously heard varying tales about the conditions of that stretch.

Surprised to hear you made it out of the northern Presis! :)

Alpinista, believe me Mike and I made every Tanya Harding/Jeff Gillolly/Shane Stent joke you can think of during the hike.

Ivy, the stretch between Norcross and Carrigain Notch was as mellow and easy a trail as I can think of, at least this side of the Lincoln Woods Trail. It was actually easier than the LW trail since there was a slight downhill grade the way we went. It is well-marked and the footing is good. There are a couple of water crossings that might need some thought in high water, but nothing that would be considered dangerous, unless the rivers were in flood stage.

Nice report, Mike. You seem to have been fully exorcised from the rain curse. Beautiful photos of the mountains, falls and especially those two ponds. Gotta get out there one of these days!

Regards,
Marty

Mike, I really enjoyed your pictures. The shots of the ponds were very good.
