NOTE THAT WMNF IS NOT A NATIONAL PARK!

Free Entrance Days in the National Parks

America's Best Idea – the national parks – gets even better with several fee-free days at more than 100 national parks that usually charge entrance fees.*

Mark your calendar for these fee-free days in 2011:

* January 15-17
(Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday weekend)
* April 16-24
(National Park Week)
* June 21
(First day of summer)
* September 24
(Public Lands Day)
* November 11-13
(Veterans Day weekend)

Great news about the free day!

This is true but it should be! :)

I disagree. National Parks don't allow for sustainable forest management of recreation, timber, wildlife, and watersheds. A fair number of people who work in the forest products industry would probably be out of jobs if it became a National Park, which which be a huge impact because a lot of the economy in the area of the White Mountains depends on the forestry industry.

BTW, the Forest Service provides more recreational opportunities in the United States than the Park Service does. They've also done a lot more research into how recreational areas and resources should be managed than the Park Service has.
