Tom - since you bring up the topic, this is a good opportunity to remind people to carry a small folding saw in their packs on every trip, not just on National Trails Day. It's amazing how quickly small blowdowns can be cleared - sometimes about the same amount of time as navigating them, so if you're returning the same way you end up with a net gain.

For those interested, there are threads on this where people list their favorite brands/models - use the Search function.

Good call! It's good to directly make a positive impact on our trails.

Middle Moat Mt. is in desperate need of blaze freshening. No two parties hike the same route up there because the blazes are very difficult to find and it is very open. I fear for the alpine flora.

I'm planning a hike to freshen up the blazes but I've never done this before. Any tips on that, other than notifying authorities and filling out legnthy applications at trail clubs for permission ?
