New Bridge on Cascade Brook Trail (AT)

I did a sort of loop today on the Basin-Cascades, Cascade Brook and Kinsman Pond Trails. There's a new bridge about a mile up where the B-C Trail meets the CB Trail just beyond Rocky Glen Falls. Technically the bridge is on the CB Trail. The temporary sign indicates that it's an AMC project. (The signs are a bit confusing--contradictory--at this junction right now.) When I first hiked these trails in the '70s, there were bridges on both the B-C Trail (a walk-the-plank affair) and the CB Trail. The former, about .5 from the trailhead, disappeared sometime in the '80s, I recall, and has not been replaced; the latter washed out in the '90s and has just been replaced.

Interesting, I love that trail. Try to hike up to the falls whenever I have time. Was up there a week ago Sunday actually. Did you you see the giant log bridge a little below Kinsman Falls?

I was up there last May when the water was a little high and that crossing took some planning....At that point they only had a bunch of lumber laying around a little bit down stream from where the trail crossed. I figured a new bridge was in the works for right there...

PS... Anyone ever hear of or see people jumping into the pool below Kinsman Falls???

Yup, heard some loud ker-plunks and yells there yesterday, held my breath hoping these worked out OK, then heard laughter, and moved on.
