Hope everyone had a great New Years celebration. I spent it up with my good friends in Bethel Maine at a nice cabin and from there I went on a couple of small hikes. The first day I took a tour of the trails of where I was staying, the Carter's Willowbrook Lodge on Intervale Rd. I walked down several different cross country ski and snowmobile paths with moderate snow falling last Saturday. The trail took me down to the Androscoggin River. Then I crossed the road and followed another one (can't remember the name) to the rest of their trail system on top of a big hill. It was fun to get out and hike in some nice snows for the first time all year. It was snowing moderate to heavy on several occasions so I was a happy camper. Here are the pictures from that small hike which took me a couple hours.
On Sunday, Heidi and I took a trip up to Grafton Notch and hiked Table Rock. We went up the easy way, via the AT, the down the tough way, straight down the Table Rock trail. Heidi had no problem with the footing, despite her inexperience in winter hiking and the ice! I had stabilicers and was very cautious to say the least. Views from the top were extraordinary as the sign promised and I will be back here on a warmer day to relax. Here are the pictures from this hike. I will definitely be visiting Maine soon for more ambitious hiking adventures.
