Someday we'll have to organize a hike across the entire ridge. I've only been as far as Squam peak (in summer) which I thought had the best overall views that day. Maybe do the hike in peak blueberry season! :)

I've actually been planning on doing a Squam Range traverse for awhile. I still haven't decided whetheer I'd rather do it from Cotton Mtn to Sandwich Notch Rd or vice versa...

Neither way will disappoint.

Let us know, I need to get a good map of the range before I do that.

I've done the Squam Range traverse quite a few times, usually as a bike/hike. We drop a vehicle with our hiking gear at the Cotton Mt trail head, drive to Mead Camp, and bike back to the Cotton Mt trail head. Then hike up and across the ridge, down to Sandwich Notch Rd, south along the road to Beede Falls, and down the Beede River Trail to Mead Camp.
The southern section of the Crawford-Ridgepole Trail, from Cotton Mt to Mt Percival, isn't too difficult to follow and has good views. North of Percival some sections of the trail are obscure and can be a challenge to follow (especially when there is snow on the ground). The Beede River Trail is relatively easy to follow.
The Squam Lakes Association publishes a trail guide and map that has the Squam Range trails. The Squam Trail Guide is a small pocket size booklet that comes with a separate map. The map is a really good topo type map. The guide with the map sells for $5 or $6 and is available from the Squam Lakes Association. (I haven't seen it in stores.)
