Trail Conditions: First time at the new parking lot..plenty of space there.. Trail starts off pretty dry with a couple of small mud holes..Brook crossings all flowing but easy...Once past Bald Knob Trail some wet spots, slippery roots and many moss covered rocks on this lightly used trail. Kinsman ridge Trail easy going with some wet ledge but not problems.. 2 Blowdowns, one under and one over in the vicinity of Bald Knob cutoff which is in great shape.. Side trail to Kinsman Flume a bit brushy and ends abruptly at a 30 foot cliff..Caution!

Equipment: a little wind protection for lunch..hats and some put on shells during showers on descent

Comments.. New section of Mt Kinsman Trail a delightful jaunt through the forest...good footing prevails to the Bald Knob Cutoff and a bit past where slippery rock and roots become somewhat of a challange..We had glimpses of warm sun and blasts of cool wind driven rain today but a good day to be out.. Foliage in the valleys excellent..mostly green on these peaks..Side trips to Bald Knob and Kinsman Flume well worth the effort..A couple of first timers today, Jim and Karen, were rewarded with some decent views from South Kinsman.. We skipped the North Outlook as the mudhole there has expanded greatly.
