Trail: Wapack Trail
Condition: slushy snow in warm temperatures, with some ice. Many trees and branches down. Some drainages clogged and overflowing.
Comments: I didn't see any signs noting this area was closed, and there was several other cars parked along the road. The first section of the trail was gnarly and sometimes difficult to follow because of all the trees and limbs down. Once I reached higher ground, there were fewer obstacles. I picked up all that I could, wanting to make the trail as good as it could be before the cold temperatures came again and froze everything in place. I wished I had brought my hand saw. Very windy on summit. This was the first hike I have taken with my son's dog, Penny, and she was very good company with boundless energy.
