trails: north twin, bypass (two lower little river crossings), haystack rd., snowmobile trail
conditions: 4-6" powder on haystack rd. and lower north twin trail over packed base. bypass had deeper sections and once it rejoined the trail it was more like 10-12" (it seems people were hiking up the river rather than the trail this past weekend, see previous thread). good snowbridge on third crossing then there was a rough blown in track until the steep section below the crest where it became deep and heavily blown in. the route was pretty clear through the scrub up to the summit. much of this may be blown in by tomorrow given the winds this afternoon. a few duck under blowdowns in upper section of north twin trail. trail to south twin looked pretty blown in.
equipment: snowshoes, wind gear for exposed section of trail near summit, $6 for parking at seven dwarfs.
comments: was quite cold this morning and increasingly windy. first hike in a while where my feet got cold. some views through the clouds blowing over the summit.
