Trail: 7 Dwarfs bypass to North Twin Trail.
Conditions: The snow was soft most of the day. Near the summit the snow was firmer. No Serious blowdowns. Near the summit alot of icing on the trees. Trail was well packed and even though soft, there were very few post holes. It did not look as if the North Twin Spur trail over to South Twin had seen any recent use. Anyone attemping it could struggle with thick iced branches. River crossings were all ok but see below.
Equipment: We used snowshoes once leaving the snowmobile trail near the 7 Dwarfs.
Comments: Don't make the mistake we did leaving the 7 Dwarfs and and not turning left just after the bridge. Turn left at the first bridge and follow the snowmobile trail for several minutes until you see an old bus in the woods. Leave the snowmobile at this point and follow the hikers trail next to another bridge that has a fence. This trail generally follows the Little River until reaching Haystack Road and the trailhead. There are two early crossings of the Little River on the North Twin Trail. Stay east of the Little River on the well packed bushwhack to avoid both crossings. Today all the river crossings were managable including the 3rd crossing of the Little River at the 1.9 mile mark. However the Little River has a huge amount of rushing water and I dont think the Little River Crossing will remain viable for very long.
