Northern Presi-traverse (Jefferson, Adams, Madison)
Date of Hike: 06/13/09
Participants: Petch, Crazy Bob, Bob and Geri Hayes, and Dave Metsky
Trail Conditions: Dry conditions throughout. Took Caps Ridge up to Jefferson, Loop trail down to Gulfside, Gulfside to T-storm junction, Lowes up to Adams, Airline down to Gulfside, Gulfside to Hut, Osgood up/down Madison, Valley Way down to Appalachia.
Special Equipment: None really. Sunscreen and highly oxygenated blood. I brought my usual fan-fare of caffeine and junk-food.
Comments: I've been nursing a swollen knee, so thought a low mileage hike to bag one 4k would be in order (Jefferson via Caps Ridge up/down). Then met up with some accomplished hikers- Bob and Geri Hayes and Dave Metsky who were nice enough to invite us along on their hike. Crazy Bob was surely up for it, and I was easily persuaded. Comfortable conditions with barely any wind made for an enjoyable hike. Incredible views throughout the day and some great stories from Dave to keep the group going. Met all kinds of ROTer's and VFTTer's who were meeting up with BobC to celebrate his 48th on Madison. Congratulations BobC. Came across Mad River, Trish and Alex, HikerBob, Gwynna, BobC, Bobby, Trail Trotter, Dave Bear, Sunshine Chris, Poison Ivy, jdr6453, and several others. A pretty neat experience to see all these folks who I have read about on VFTT and ROT. Big thanks Bob and Geri and Dave for inviting us along, and a thanks to HikerBob for the ride back to the car. Best I can figure, about 10 1/2 miles.
