After spending quality time with so many VFTTers during/after the AMC Awards dinner on April 22, I really got thinking about how special our website and fraternity really are. There have been many tributes to VFTT over the years, but I feel this is something I feel you cannot overdo.
I decided to write an Ode to VFTT. Here goes:
I dearly love our website, VFTT,
Whose members are hiking fanatics, just like me.
These people are cool, smart and unique.
Nice to know I‘m not the only Northeast hiking freak.
You get to know all the members very well,
Why I’ve even learned who wears deodorant and who prefers to smell.
The threads, posts and polls both inform and entertain,
The “how to” advice and Trip Reports are food for the brain.
VFTT has made my hiking a heck of a lot more fun,
I’ve said “Alligator Egg” to many, but only got a response from one (TruePatriot09).
I’ve made new hiking buddies, including several who live nearby,
And I’m always watching for cars with VFTT bumper stickers driving by.
I go to Boston beer fests after a long work day,
Where I drink with fellow members, including Sherpa K.,
I hope to do more events, like Gatherings and a harbor cruise
Maybe I’ll get to New York some day for Views and Brews!
The website is first class and always on line,
Thank you Darren, Peakbagr and Metsky, for efforts quite fine!
I’ve grown to like Rep points, they’re really kind of fun.
They have made our views more positive. Wish I could green square everyone.
I dig the avatars, the signatures and all the neat photos,
I dig Trail Conditions, cool member names and of course, Sherpa Kroto.
I truly love this website and hope it never will stop,
Yes, I’m proud to be a member of Views From The Top!
